Llevaba varios meses una cajita negra con un círculo grabado merodeando por nuestro caótico estudio, hasta que un día, con el pretexto de hacerle fotos a mi amiguísima y a su bebe en proceso cargue cuidadosamente mi querida SX70. Hace tanto tiempo que ya ni me acuerdo porqué se canceló el plan, creo que el día elegido cayó una tormenta de aquellas y tuve que devolver mi cámara a su estado de hibernación. Total que hace como 15 días necesitaba un marco de polaroid para enseñárselo a unas amigas así que decidí disparar una foto. Con esta película es necesario separar el plástico superior de el fondo con la emulsión, porque lentamente se va oscureciendo hasta volverse completamente negro. Cuando separas esas dos partes, el proceso se detiene así que puedes elegir el punto de luz que quieres para la foto, en ese momento lo separas y lo dejas secar. Confieso que era un poco escéptica, pero cuando vi los colores de la foto en cuestión me enamoré de la “fade to black”.
A little black box has been rolling around on our chaotic studio for several months, until one day, when I decided to take some pictures of my friend and her baby in process. I slowly charged my dear SX70 and decided to try this special film. It’s been so long, that I can’t even remembered what happened, but I couldn’t do the pictures, I guess it was an awful, stormy day. So, my camera went to her usual hibernation. The other day, I needed to show a Polaroid frame to my friends, so I took a picture. With this film, it’s necessary to peel apart the front from the emulsion back, when you decide that you like the colors and brightness, otherwise it’ll turn completely black. Then, you leave it until it dries. I confess that I was a little skeptical, but when I saw the colors and texture, boy, I fell in love with the “fade to black”.
road trip
hace dos años tuve las auténticas vacaciones en la costa sur de españa, en especial cabo de gata, tarifa y los caños de meca. los mejores paisajes en primera linea de playa, comida casera, muchos mojitos y toda la risa del mundo, gracias a mi amiguísima vane y su furgo. ojalá podamos repetir, aunque con sobrinito de camino será imposible pasar tantas horas en horizontal.
nota personal: de este año no pasa que me saque el carnet español…
two years ago I’ve had the-real-holidays in southern spain, specially cabo de gata, tarifa and caños de meca. the best landscapes ever just a few feet from the beach, homemade food, a lot of mojitos and continous laughing, thanks to my dearest friend, vane and her van. I wish we could repeat someday, but with her little baby on his way, it’s going to be hard to achive all those hours of laziness.
note to myselft: i must get my spanish driver’s licence this year…
necesito playa
éste ha sido el invierno mas duro desde que vivo en barcelona (hace 10 años). ya se que puede sonar exagerado teniendo en cuenta que hay muchos lugares donde viven con metros de nieve por varios meses, pero para mi que solo soy feliz con el calor humedo pegajoso de 30º para arriba, esto está minando mi moral. así que para alegrar un poco mi día ahí va esta fotito. es una playa cerca de mazunte y muy al estilo lost (lo he de confesar, estoy enganchada a la serie desde el capítulo uno) hay una avioneta abandonada en la orilla. por lo visto pertenecía a unos narcos que estaban siendo perseguidos por la policía, aterrizaron ahí y consiguieron escapar. de esto hace ya varios años y la marea ha conseguido partirla en dos. lástima que no pude convencer al lanchero para verla de cerca. una razón más para volver a un sueño.
it has been the toughest winter since i’ve been living in barcelona (10 years). i know it’s a little bit exaggerated considering all the places where it’s really cold (i mean below 0ºC) but i’m myself when sweaty hot summer arrives and this weather is getting to me. so, trying to cheer me up, i found this photo. it’s a beach near mazunte and in a very lost style (i have to confess, i’ve been hooked to lost since episode 1) there’s an abandoned aircraft by the sea. it seems that it belonged to some drug traffickers who were chased by the police and managed to scape. it has been some years since that happened, and the tide has teared up the aircraft. it’s a shame that i couldn’t convinced the boater to take me there. another reason for coming back to un sueño.
